HUD Landlord Symposium
We appreciate the work you do providing a vital housing resource to the people of Connecticut. At the present time, Connecticut is experiencing a housing shortage, and as a result, recent reports indicate that almost half of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) subsidies issued to vulnerable families in the state do not lease up. Many of the people who are unable to find a suitable unit to lease have been waiting on HCV waitlists for years and need the subsidy to maintain stable housing. When they are unable to lease the voucher up, the voucher expires, and the families are not able to try again before trying to access another waitlist. The families that depend on HUD subsidies include working people with children, veterans, the disabled and the elderly. Our office is committed to providing education, outreach and support to owners who would like to learn more about participating in the Voucher program.
The Connecticut HUD Field Office would like to invite you to our Virtual Landlord Symposium being held on January 25, 2023 from 10:00-12:00.
The virtual “TEAMS” based symposium is designed for new or existing owners who have questions or need a refresher. The session will provide an overview on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program from program staff and include a presentation from a local housing authority. Topics to be covered will include information on the roles and responsibilities in the lease up process, rent approvals, program flexibilities, inspections, landlord rights, and information on special tenant populations served under the program. The session will also have time set aside for Questions and Answers. The contact info of HUD program leadership will be made available if you have any further questions or concerns after the session.
